Abbey Dawn’s “Dirty Girl”: Bad, Yet Sooo Good!

Dirty Girl; 5 Inches / 13 CM

Some of my close friends have already known that I have unhealthy obsession with shoes, even though I claimed that I bought them only on “sale”, “discount or “weeks of thinking”. While in my defense those reasons are indeed true, it doesn’t help the fact that I already have 30 pairs of shoes… and still hungry for more.

My most recent additions to my collection are shoes by Abbey Dawn* and Iron Fist*. Now to be honest, my (current) most favorite shoe brand is actually T.U.K. Shoes**, but I’ve already bought all the shoes (on sale LOL) that I’ve already wanted, thus I channeled my obsession to these pairs.

Both of the shoes are my very first try from these brands. To be honest, I’m actually quite excited to have them. Here goes my review for…

Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne (EUR 35,97, on sale); is, of course, designed by that singer. I was never a big fan of  her, so I was a bit skeptical when I made the order. But hey, the shoes were on sale, have a pretty color and black tiny skulls embellishments. What not to like? The price before the discount on Amazon.de was EUR 79,99, so I consider myself lucky.

When I opened the pretty pink box, an unpleasant “new shoes” smell filled my living room. The shoes still smell like leather and glue, and for a so called “quality” brand, you could actually see some messy glue on the heels and a really tiny scuff marks. But then again I’m anal like that, so to some people this actually don’t bother them… maybe not even the smell.

Moving on, though, I noticed that there are even more faulty in these pair of shoes. You can see more pictures after the cut.

WHAT THE HELL, Avril?

Superschwarzes Mannheim; My First Goth Event

Standard
SSM Poster

Mannheim Super Black

The Superschwarzes Mannheim (shortened to SS Mannheim, ironically) is a Gothic Party held monthly in MS Connexion, an event building which consists of 2 floors. The party has 6 different dance floors, each with a different theme, ranging from Cyber to Industrial. The event itself starts from 22:00 until 04:00, just as the night started till dawn. Ticket costs 8 EUR, and it’s worth every cent.

To think that a week before the event, I invited several friends of mine from the Deutschkurs to attend the party with me. Their response? “Nooo! You can’t go there! It’s creepy, scary and they’re GERMAN GOTHS! Are you saying you’re a Goth too? Hahaha! The German Goths are more extreme than any Goths out there!”

Now I myself have been a huge fan of the Goth subculture, especially their fashion choice. The very first time I had a contact to a Goth subculture was through manga, hence my influence in the culture is mostly from Japanese Death Metal bands and Gosurori* fashion. I have no idea of any western Goth bands out there, except for some classics like Faith & The Muse or Siouxsie & The Banshees. To be honest, I was really nervous in attending my very first Gothic event ever in the west. I’ve been really interested in this subculture ever since my early teenage years, yet this was my very first time to be in a so-called Goth club. It was like a christening to me, and I actually felt like this was really, really important to be accepted in the community. (Yeah, I took myself too seriously like that)

I’ve decided to wear a 50’s-inspired corset dress by Living Dead Souls and Frankenstein Cameo Lace Mary Jane by T.U.K. Shoes, because I feel so much more comfortable dressing in a Gothabilly* fashion than any other choices out there. It’s mostly because of my body shape, but then again I don’t see any appeal in dressing myself as a Cyber* or Gosurori, for example. They’re just not made for me. So my very first Goth “christening” I’ve decided to go in my most favorite fashion choice; The 50’s with a dark twist.

This is how I look with the dress and the make up. Take note that this picture was taken AFTER the party, on 04:30 in the morning, and I couldn’t care less of my messy bed. I smartly forgot to take a picture before I went to MS Connexion, but then again, after all that moshing and dancing, my hair and make up looks almost the same when I first put ’em on.

Food Review: Ajino Sushi-BAR, Mannheim

Standard

O7 - 27, Mannheim | +49 621/32670298 ‎

When I lived in Indonesia from Sept 2011 – January 2012, often Lauri (The Husband) told me that he ate at this Ajino Sushi Bar in downtown area of Mannheim when he’s too lazy to cook. The price that they offered is quite a deal for the All-You-Can-Eat menu, but it really depends on what time you’re going to eat there.

Basically Ajino opens at Monday till Saturday 11:00 am – 23:00. On Sunday or holidays, they are open from 12:00 – 22:00. It is quite nice to eat here on Sunday, if you have money, since all of the other restaurants and shops would be closed at the day. Here’s the price (by March 2012) that they offered for the All-You-Can-Eat sushi:

Midday, 11:30 – 16:30  = € 12.90

Evening, 17:00 – 21:30 = € 17.90

Sunday & Holidays     = € 14.90

They also have 10% Student Discount for a la carte menu, but if I wasn’t mistaken the discount doesn’t apply to the all-you-can-eat menu. The a la carte sushi dishes cost around €3-3.90, while they also have Sushi Set that starts from €13, perfect if you want to eat different kinds of sushi but thinks the all-you-can-eat would be too much for you.

Kenapa gue ogah nonton L’Arc~En~Ciel di Paris

Standard

Sok keren, tapi tampilan kayak Spongebob.

Nerd.

Waktu itu, gue cuma mau dengerin musik Jepang, and I always thought my taste was more superior than others because I liked things they didn’t know. Hipster abis deh.

Seperti musikus lain macam Chrisye dan Nujabes (both are dead BTW). Karena band ini lah, gue perlahan-lahan mulai menambah teman waktu SMA.

Finland, Selamat Idul Fitri!

Standard
